do the thing you think you cannot do
Do the thing you think you can't do.
My coach relayed an interesting analogy to me. When she was pregnant, she recalled feeling nauseous a lot of the time. Her friend, wanting to relieve her of this discomfort, urged her to eat. She refused. Her friend insisted again, "Just a saltine cracker." She refused again, repulsed by the idea of food. Being nauseous, food was the last thing she wanted. Her friend insisted further — trust me, just take the smallest bite of the saltine cracker.
She finally agreed. As soon as she took the nibble of the cracker, her nausea vanished and her hunger was revealed. She was able to eat — a healthy thing, especially given the nutritional needs of both herself and her child.
She used this story to relate that there are times when we must do the thing we think we cannot do. We may be disgusted by certain ideas. We may have trouble taking a small step because we are fearful. But taking that small step and seeing what happens is key to moving forward in a healthy life.
What is one small step you can take today toward something you think you can't do?
