just write
Just write.
There are times when you don't know what you're going to write. You don't know what's going to come through you. You don't know what direction you're heading.
Still. Just write.
I've written many posts about the importance of taking action over overthinking. Moving forward—even without a clear path—does the job that overthinking cannot. As they say, premature optimization is the root of all evil. Believing we can figure everything out before we take a step is how we get stuck.
I stared blankly at the screen today, not knowing what to write. So, I just write and see what happens.
Just showing up—even if it's a D-minus effort—is better than not showing up at all. There will always be days when inspiration is absent. The counterintuitive truth about creativity is that inspiration comes to those who move, not to those who sit and wait for it.
When you're stuck with writer's block, just write. Write for the trash can if you have to. Give yourself permission to be bad at whatever you do. Remember: showing up each day is what allows creative energy to flow through you.
