turn on the faucet
Write even when you have nothing to say.
Not to make slop. Not to broadcast noise.
But because writing is a practice.
You won’t always feel inspired. Your mind won’t always be clear.
Think of writing—or any creative work—as a faucet. You have to twist the handle to let it run.
At first, sometimes nothing comes out. Sometimes the water is murky from disuse.
But if you keep it flowing, the water clears. And eventually, something worth saying appears.
But it only happens if you turn on the faucet.
