share thyself

We've all heard the axiom: know thyself. But what about share thyself?

Knowing ourselves is the first step toward being, relating, and connecting with the world.

Knowing starts as a solitary act. But self-knowledge left in isolation risks becoming distortion. We need others to help us see clearly.

When we share ourselves with others, we become more known to ourselves and to the world. It is a critical part of actualizing that powerful directive: know thyself.

Like art, we’re meant to be seen. We’re not complete until someone witnesses us.

Sharing ourselves isn’t easy — that’s why it’s called vulnerability. Emotional exposure, social risk, uncertainty — they’re all part of it. The consequences give it meaning.

We cannot see ourselves without a mirror.

We cannot know ourselves without a witness.

Sharing is the act of casting ourselves into the mirror. Only then can we begin to know who we are.
